Duration: 330 Minutes

Promoter: MÚSICA NO CORAÇÃO - SOC.PORT.DE ENTR.

On 1 July, the Jardins do Marquês Festival will host an evening dedicated to rock music that is generations. British band The Stranglers, one of the most influential bands in the history of punk and alternative rock, will take to the stage in Oeiras Valley for a concert that is several decades of their career and some of the most memorable songs of the genre.
Opening the night will be Peste & Sida, an essential reference in Portuguese rock. With almost four decades of experience, the band maintains a strong connection with the audience and a stage presence marked by the energy and intensity that characterise their repertoire.
This meeting between two bands from different geographical locations reinforces the diversity of the Jardins do Marquês Festival programme.
About The Stranglers:
Formed in 1974, The Stranglers emerged in the context of the late 70s punk movement, but quickly transcended labels. Their unique sound, marked by unmistakable bass lines, dark keyboards, and a raw attitude, placed them in their own territory, where punk, new wave, and sophisticated rock coexist. In just 13 months, they released three essential albums: Rattus Norvegicus, No More Heroes, and Black and White, which gave rise to classics such as Peaches, No More Heroes, and Walk On By.
Throughout their career, the band has amassed 24 singles and 20 albums in the British Top 40, including unmissable tracks such as Golden Brown, Always The Sun, and Strange Little Girl, establishing themselves as an absolute reference in European alternative music.
After 2024, marked by 50th-anniversary celebrations, with sold-out tours around the world and emblematic shows like the one at the Royal Albert Hall, The Stranglers arrive in 2026 at a moment of full live affirmation. The album Fifty Years In Black reinforced this status by becoming the band's 20th album to enter the UK Top 40.
