Few operas manage to combine spectacle, emotion, and musical beauty like Aida, Giuseppe Verdi's timeless masterpiece.

In the heart of ancient Egypt, amidst temples, rituals, and wars, an impossible love is born. Aida, an Ethiopian princess reduced to the condition of a slave, loves Radames, the Egyptian hero destined for glory. Between them stands Amneris, the Pharaoh's daughter, and a world where duty, power, and loyalty speak louder than feelings.

Verdi constructs here a drama of contrasts: monumental scenes with grandiose choruses and triumphal marches coexist with moments of extreme intimacy, where the music reveals human fragility with moving depth. Each aria, each duet, each silence leads the audience to impossible choices and to a denouement with enormous emotional intensity.

With a libretto by A. Ghislanzoni, based on a work by C. du Locle and A. Mariette, premiered at the Cairo Opera on December 24, 1871, Aida is a story about love and sacrifice that remains current, urgent, and profoundly human.
In May 2026, this great production arrives in Portugal for a series of performances that begins in Estoril, ends in Lisbon, passing through Braga and Águeda beforehand. A rare opportunity to experience, live, one of the most powerful creations in the history of classical music.
