RATOS DE PORÃO RETURN TO PORTUGAL WITH "NECROPOLÍTICA" AND A SETLOAD FULL OF CLASSICS!
The historic São Paulo band returns to national stages accompanied by SIMBIOSE, in a celebration of more than four decades of hardcore, thrash, and political intervention.
On August 1st, RATOS DE PORÃO return to Portugal for a show at LAV – Lisboa Ao Vivo, which is anticipated to be one of the central moments of the summer for fans of punk, hardcore, thrash, and crossover. The night promises to bring together different generations around one of the most influential names in South American extreme music. The presence of the Portuguese band SIMBIOSE in the opening act reinforces the special character of the event, uniting two names that, in different geographical locations, share a trajectory marked by aesthetic coherence, combativeness, and commitment to the underground.
RATOS DE PORÃO brings with them their latest studio album, along with all their unmissable classics. Released on May 13, 2023 via Shinigami Records, «Necropolítica» followed «Século Sinistro» from 2014, breaking a nearly decade-long hiatus without original material. According to the press release accompanying the release, "the album features several social critiques that focus especially on the term coined in 2003 by the Cameroonian philosopher and political theorist Achille Mbembe," a concept that gives the LP its title and guides its thematic reflection. Live, as has already been proven here, the new tracks naturally dialogue with the band's historical repertoire, composing a line-up that is more than forty years of sonic intervention.
RATOS DE PORÃO show at LAV – Lisboa Ao Vivo takes place on August 1st, 2026, with doors opening at 8 PM and the show scheduled to begin at 9 PM, in a night that reaffirms the vitality of a band that continues to embrace music as a space for confrontation, reflection, and resistance.
Formed in São Paulo in 1981, in a Brazil still experiencing the final years of the military dictatorship, RATOS DE PORÃO emerged in a context of great social tension and cultural effervescence that decisively shaped their identity. From their first rehearsals, Jão and company stood out for their raw sound, their crudeness, and their direct and critical discourse, quickly establishing themselves as one of the most forceful voices in Brazilian hardcore punk. Over the years, they incorporated the aggressiveness of thrash with the urgency of their origins, creating their own sound, which allowed them to cross borders and achieve international recognition.
