Fundação Batalha de Aljubarrota (Battle of Aljubarrota Foundation) to safeguard and enhance the heritage of the S. Jorge battlefield. Its
exhibition gives indepth information on the Battle of Aljubarrota, focusing on its historical context and Portuguese knowledge from a perspective resulting from the combination of countless depictions, documents and research tools. This educational and entertaining exhibition comprises four areas with different display resources: In the first display nucleus, shows the results of the archaeological digs of the defence system, which was inspired by English methods that were new to Portugal and even the rest of Europe. They also give a chronological account of the circumstances and events of the period.
In the second nucleus, spectators watch the main show with the latest multimedia technological resources, based on research of the Battle of Aljubarrota Foundation. In this area, around 90 people can be seated to watch a 30-minute panoramic special effects projection of the Battle of Aljubarrota and the movements of both armies.
The third nucleus is for reading about Aljubarrota through the ages from different scholarly and literary points of view. There are also exhibits and studies of bones from Aljubarrota combatants found on the battlefield.
The forth nucleus is presented in the Centre's outside area, pinpointing the most important locations of the Battle. Additionally, the Centre of Interpretation has an Educational Services area, which provides information and classes for adults, school groups and groups of elderly visitors.
