ANGELUS APATRIDA + VIO-LENCE
"Eruption of Screams / Thrash Domination"

July 24th - HARD CLUB | PORTO

PORTO WELCOMES ANGELUS APATRIDA AND VIO-LENCE IN A LINEUP THAT CROSSES TWO DISTINCT TRAJECTORIES WITHIN THRASH!

The Eruption Of Screams – Thrash Domination tour establishes itself as a meeting point for two bands that help to understand not only the past, but also the persistence of the genre.

Almost four decades after its initial declaration, thrash metal continues to reveal a remarkable capacity for adaptation and permanence, remaining active both through its historical protagonists and more recent generations who refuse to treat it as an exercise in nostalgia. It is at this intersection of times and languages that the Eruption Of Screams – Thrash Domination tour emerges, passing through Portugal with two shows that bring together distinct paths within the genre: the Spanish band ANGELUS APATRIDA and the American band VIO-LENCE.

In the case of ANGELUS APATRIDA, the path traveled over the last two decades has transformed them into one of the most consistent names in European thrash. Far from a meteoric or fleeting rise, the band built its position through impressive discographic consistency and continuous stage presence, progressively surpassing the borders of the Iberian circuit. Their affirmation in markets traditionally dominated by American names did not come about by chance, resulting from an approach that prioritizes precision, structural clarity, and a contemporary reading of the genre, without resorting to nostalgic revisitations.

Now, this new visit to Portugal is part of this continuous consolidation movement, presenting a setlist that should reflect various phases of the discography of “nuestros hermanos” (our Spanish brothers).

The legendary VIO-LENCE, in turn, appear here in a distinct, but no less relevant, context. Formed in the San Francisco Bay Area during the 1980s, they were part of a core that helped define their own language within thrash, marked by rhythmic aggression and an unconventional vocal approach. Their trajectory, however, was never linear: periods of intense activity alternated with long hiatuses, contributing to a more fragmented presence over the decades.

Their recent return to the stage and to releasing music has rekindled interest in a highly influential catalog and reinforced the importance of revisiting a band that, despite not always being at the forefront of this trend, played a decisive and undeniable role in shaping the sound of the time.
