La Cenerentola ossia Il trionfo della bontá is a famous two-act opera by the Italian composer Gioachino Rossini, with a libretto by Jacopo Ferretti, based on Charles Perrault’s fairy tale.

The opera was first performed at the Teatro Valle in Rome in 1817 and replaces the fairy godmother with the philosopher Alidoro and the glass slipper with a silver bracelet, extolling the virtue and kindness of the heroine in contrast to the wickedness of her stepfather and stepsisters.
