"Photography, Process and Experimentation" is a hands-on experience of observation, experimentation, and discovery, led by Bruno Silva, demonstrating how limitations, accidents, unexpected equipment, or unconventional ways of photographing can open up new creative possibilities. The workshop will begin within the exhibition Between Dawn and Permanence, drawing on a selection of the artist’s photographs to explore specific aspects of his working method: wandering, observation, the relationship with light, chance, and the search for possibilities beyond the conventional use of photographic equipment.
Throughout the workshop, participants will be introduced to part of the equipment used in the development of the artist’s work. The session will explore how an accident or a technical limitation can be transformed into a creative opportunity, while also challenging the idea that photographic results are determined solely by equipment. Alternative ways of exploring and deconstructing the functionality of photographic tools will also be presented through different cameras and experimental processes, followed by a short outdoor photographic walk.
At the end, participants will collectively create a roll of film, and the resulting images will later be shared among all attendees.
